Mississippi Governor Vetoes 2 Bills on Health Insurance


JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves stated Wednesday that he has vetoed two payments coping with insurance coverage as a result of he thinks they might improve the price of well being care.

“One is a bad idea, and I can’t see myself supporting it. One is a good idea that just includes some correctable mistakes,” the Republican governor stated in a press release.

Reeves stated the “bad idea” was in Senate Bill 2224, which might have given the state insurance coverage commissioner the power to set charges for all medical health insurance.

He stated Senate Bill 2262 would have made adjustments to the prior authorization course of that insurance coverage firms use to inform suppliers whether or not a process or drug is roofed. Reeves stated he favored that the proposal would have required insurance coverage firms to offer faster solutions, however the invoice would have had “unintended penalties.”

“The invoice has numerous technical elements,” Reeves stated. “These embrace administrative hearings which are in an incorrect place, elevated prices for Medicaid and different points that trigger me to not be snug signing it.”
